wasserturm()

For his series Wasseturm(), Philipp Klak coded a script, which allows him to generate an almost infinite amount of pictures of “anonymous sculptures”, inspired by the research method developed by Hilla and Bernd Becher in the mid-1960s. Created from textured 3D objects and backgrounds, the computational images appear and vanish at a set interval. By investigating randomness and serendipity, he uncovers the hidden procedural functions at work to generate the photographs. — Text by Claus Gunti

This project is not photographed but fully generated in virtual 3D space. Procedurally generated in HoudiniFX and rendered in V-Ray. For a more in-depth documentation of the project follow this link.

Originally installed with twelve displays arranged in a grid. The images are constantly updating on the screens maintaining the layout but changing the arrangement over the entire time of the installation.
